Using dry ice in a sealed container can result in rapid evaporation of carbon dioxide(CO2) from solid to gas, which can generate pressure within the container. This pressure can potentially cause the container to burst or explode, posing a risk of injury or damage. If you need to use dry ice for cooling or other purposes, it is important to follow proper handling and safety precautions. Here are some general guidelines:

  • Ventilation: Do not use dry ice in completely sealed containers. Ensure there is proper ventilation to allow the release of gas as the dry ice sublimates (converts from solid to gas).
  • Container Selection: Use containers that are designed to handle the pressure and temperature changes associated with dry ice. Avoid using glass containers, which can be brittle and prone to breakage under pressure.
  • Insulation: Use appropriate insulation materials to prevent direct contact between dry ice and the container walls, as extreme cold temperatures can cause certain materials to become brittle and crack.
  • Protective Gear: Wear appropriate protective gear, such as gloves and eye protection, when handling dry ice, as it can cause frostbite or eye injury upon direct contact.
  • Storage: Store dry ice in a well-ventilated area, preferably in a cooler or insulated container with proper ventilation and avoid storing it in tightly sealed containers.
  • Monitoring: Monitor the pressure and temperature inside the container regularly during use to ensure that pressure does not build up to dangerous levels.
  • Education: Educate yourself and others about the proper handling and use of dry ice, including potential hazards and safety precautions.
  • It is important to exercise caution and follow proper safety guidelines when handling dry ice to prevent potential hazards. If you are unsure about the proper use of dry ice or have specific questions or concerns, it is recommended to consult with a qualified professional or expert in the field.

We advise against storing milk or dairy products in our vacuum bottles or food jars for extended periods of time, as specific temperatures can promote bacteria growth, which can result in spoilage and food safety concerns. Additionally, fermenting food and beverages may cause pressure to build up over time, potentially leading to leaks or bursts.

For comprehensive information on safe handling and storage of milk and dairy products, we recommend consulting the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) at www.fda.gov. It is important to follow proper food safety guidelines from reputable sources to ensure the safe handling and storage of food and beverages, including dairy products, to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria and maintain food safety.

We strongly advise against freezing any of our products. Liquids tend to expand as they freeze, and your item may not return to its original shape after freezing, which can result in damage to its functionality, thermals, and seals. It is important to avoid exposing our products to freezing temperatures to ensure their optimal performance and longevity.

Tax exempt documentation must be provided prior to order placement (separate from IRS Determination Letter). Rules around tax exempt status vary from state to state so all documents will be reviewed by our Finance Department prior to removing tax.

To ensure a thorough cleaning of the gasket or seal on your Pelican™ Hydration product, we recommend the following steps:

Soaking in white vinegar, lemon juice, or warm water and baking soda: Remove the top of the cup and soak it in a solution of white vinegar, lemon juice, or warm water mixed with baking soda. This will help to break down any residue or buildup on the gasket or seal. Be sure to follow the recommended dilution instructions for the cleaning solution you choose.

Carefully removing the gasket or seal: For some Pelican™ Hydration products, the gasket or seal can be carefully removed using a small tool or instrument, such as a plastic spatula or toothpick. Take caution to avoid damaging the gasket or seal during removal. Once removed, you can soak it separately in the cleaning solution for a thorough clean.

Rinse and dry: After soaking, rinse the gasket or seal with clean water to remove any remaining cleaning solution. Allow it to air dry completely before reassembling it back onto your Pelican™ Hydration product.

Regularly cleaning the gasket or seal of your Pelican™ Hydration product can help to maintain its performance and extend its lifespan. We appreciate your attention to cleaning and caring for your product, and we hope these tips are helpful for you.

All Pelican Hydration drinkware are dishwasher safe. If you’re going the dishwasher route, just make sure everything goes where it should to get them as clean as possible.

  • Drinkware body: Standing upside down on the top or bottom rack (depending on where it fits best).
  • Lids/Bottle/Boots: Top rack of the dishwasher away from the heat.

While the drinkware is dishwasher safe, hand washing is recommended to prolong the life of the finish and seals.

To keep your Pelican™ Hydration products in top condition, it's important to properly care for them, as they are made of high-grade stainless steel that can last a lifetime. If you notice any corrosion that appears to be rust, it could be caused by free-iron particles, dirt, or residue on the surface. Here are some steps you can follow for effective cleaning:

  1. Use a standard, non-abrasive household cleaner: You can use a non-abrasive household cleaner to free contaminants from the surface of your Pelican Hydration product. Apply the cleaner with a bristle brush, sponge, or clean cloth, and scrub gently to remove any particles or residue.
  2. Try stainless-steel cleaner or polish: A stainless-steel cleaner or polish can also be used to clean your Pelican Hydration™ product. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for optimal results, and make sure to rinse thoroughly after cleaning.
  3. Soak in warm water and baking soda, white vinegar, or lemon juice: Soaking your product in a mixture of warm water and baking soda, white vinegar, or lemon juice can help to remove stubborn stains or corrosion. Allow the solution to sit for a while, then rinse thoroughly and dry.
  4. Repeat as necessary: Depending on the severity of the corrosion or stains, you may need to repeat the cleaning process multiple times to achieve the desired result. Be patient and persistent and avoid using abrasive cleaners or tools that could damage the stainless-steel surface.
  5. Always wash thoroughly after cleaning: After using any cleaner or soaking solution, always wash your product thoroughly with soap and water, following the care and use instructions provided, to ensure that no residue or cleaning agents remain on the surface.

By following these cleaning tips and regularly caring for your Pelican Hydration™ products, you can help extend their lifespan and keep them looking their best.

To effectively remove stains or smells from your product, you can follow these steps:

  1. Wash with warm water and non-abrasive cleaner: Use a standard, non-abrasive household cleaner and warm water to clean your product. You can apply the cleaner with bristle brushes, sponges, or clean cloths. Be sure to follow the care and use instructions provided by the manufacturer.
  2. Soak in baking soda, white vinegar, or lemon juice: For tougher stains or smells, you can try soaking your product in a mixture of warm water and baking soda. Alternatively, some customers have reported success with soaking in white vinegar or lemon juice. Soak the product for enough time to allow the cleaner to work on the stain or smell.
  3. Rinse thoroughly: After using cleaners or soaking the product, rinse it thoroughly with warm water to remove any residue from the cleaning process.
  4. Repeat as necessary: If the stain or smell persists, you may need to repeat the cleaning process until it disappears completely. Be patient and follow the manufacturer's instructions for the best results.
  5. Use stainless-steel cleaner or polish for stainless steel products: If your product is made of stainless steel, you can use a stainless-steel cleaner or polish specifically designed for stainless steel surfaces. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for application and usage.
  6. Follow care and use instructions: Always follow the care and use instructions provided by the manufacturer for your specific product to ensure proper cleaning and maintenance.

By following these steps and using the recommended cleaners or soakers, you should be able to effectively remove stains or smells from your product. Remember to rinse thoroughly and repeat the process as needed until the stains or smells are gone, and always follow the care and use instructions provided by the manufacturer.

To ensure the best performance in terms of hot or cold retention from your vacuum bottle, you can follow these tips:

  1. Preheat or pre-chill the bottle: Before filling your vacuum bottle with hot or cold beverages, you can preheat or pre-chill the bottle by filling it with hot or cold water respectively and letting it sit for a few minutes. This helps to create a stable temperature environment inside the bottle and enhances its ability to retain the desired temperature.
  2. Use hot or cold beverages at the desired temperature: When filling your vacuum bottle, use hot or cold beverages at the temperature you desire for the longest retention. Avoid adding ice or boiling water directly into the bottle, as extreme temperature differences may reduce the bottle's performance.
  3. Fill the bottle to its capacity: Fill the vacuum bottle to its maximum capacity to minimize the amount of air inside. Less air space means less heat transfer, which can help improve the bottle's insulation performance.
  4. Keep the bottle tightly sealed: Make sure the bottle is tightly sealed to prevent any air leakage. This includes ensuring the lid or cap is securely screwed or snapped on, and any drinking spouts or stoppers are properly closed.
  5. Avoid prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures: To maintain optimal performance, avoid leaving your vacuum bottle exposed to extreme temperatures for long periods of time. For example, do not leave a hot bottle in a cold environment or vice versa.
  6. Avoid opening the bottle frequently: Opening the bottle frequently can cause heat or cold to escape, reducing the bottle's retention performance. Try to minimize opening the bottle unless necessary.
  7. Store the bottle properly: When not in use, store your vacuum bottle in a cool, dry place with the lid or cap off to allow air circulation and prevent any odors from developing.

By following these tips, you can maximize the hot or cold retention performance of your vacuum bottle and enjoy your beverages at the desired temperature for longer periods of time.

We advise that you abide by the temperature limits mentioned below while using the Pelican™ Hydration Drinkware items and their respective lids. Our drinkware is designed to retain heat, so it's crucial to exercise caution when opening it. Avoid overfilling the containers and ensure that the hot liquids are below the solid ring located beneath the threads. Additionally, please keep hot beverages away from children.

  • Maximum Temperature of 185F (85C)
  • NOT Intended for Use with Hot Beverages with Straw Lids.
